By 'solo' do you mean literally solo or with a party of heroes/henchmen? If the latter, ditch everything but Prot Spirit and maybe RoF. If the former, I don't think you'd have enough damage to kill much, even if you could survive.

I find healing boring when I play my monk with h/h, so I run either SoS or smite.

For standard heal/prot bars, any current meta UA/HB build would be better than that.

How about this. Few healing spells to keep health up. Balthas for energy. Spirits for DMg and pain bond for extra DMg?

Monk rit

Orison of healing
Seed of life
Balthazars spirit
Pain
Vampirism
Bloodsong
Painful bond
Summon spirits

No offence, but that second attempt is pretty bad as well.

1) Orison is a crap heal, forget it.
2) Choose what you want to do. Keep things alive or kill them? Ditch all the Rit stuff, it does not belong on a Monk bar, unless you want to pretend you're a Rit and run a proper Spirit Spam build.
3) Balth Spirit is not particularly good for energy management unless you're soloing.

If you want to kill things then you'll need an offensive bar, i.e, don't waste slots and attributes on things that don't help achieve this. Smiting bars are the most obvious choice, and spirit spam builds work on pretty much all professions. You could pretend to be other professions but then you're just going to be a weak clone of that profession (not to say this isn't the case with spirit spammers, but they're generally powerful enough for it not to matter too much).
